It is certainly a countless pleasure to welcome you to browse the (GBST) Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal’s official website. Information technology has been playing very pivotal role in broadcasting of information and knowledge around the globe. For last couple of years, it has become very essential for the judicial institutions to automate their internal working and provide their respective services through such automated systems. The websites are vital component of information technology and through these, not only the provision of the information regarding different services of respective institution has become easy but also, many services of such institutions are directly being provided through websites.
Judiciary of Pakistan is a hierarchical system with specific jurisdictions. It is thus that the Parliament enacted the Civil Servants Act, 1973 and the Service Tribunals Act, 1973. The later was the result of enabling provisions of Art.212 of the Constitution aimed at to establish Federal Service Tribunal.
Consequently, the Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal Act has been legislated in 2010 and has been functioning after establishment of (GBST) Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal since 2014. GBST established to provide a forum with exclusive jurisdiction in disciplinary matters relating to the terms and conditions of service of Gilgit-Baltistan Civil Servants. If any Gilgit-Baltistan Civil Servant finds himself aggrieved against the final order of the departmental authority, then apart from the departmental remedies, he can also invoke the jurisdiction of the (GBST) Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal.
Since the establishment of the (GBST) Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal more than one thousand service appeals of Gilgit-Baltistan Civil Servants have been decided and implemented with their true spirit. I assumed this office on 30th May 2019 with an objective to carry forward and take steps for possible improvements. Launching of website is one such effort which has been carried out to provide ease to the litigants and lawyers to get prior information about due dates of their appeals through cause-lists duly uploaded on the website. As the Bar is an integral appendage of our judicial system, the learned members of the Bar who practice and conduct cases in (GBST) Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal will also be taken into confidence for the improvement and progress of (GBST) Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal. Our Principal Seat is in provincial Headquarter Gilgit but we constitute Registries quarterly in Skardu Registry office to facilitate the employees of Baltistan region at their door steps.We have high expectations with the Bars to bring down the pendency.It will be possible by the cooperation of lawyer fraternity and devoted performance by the learned Benches of the (GBST) Gilgit-Baltistan Service Tribunal and support of the staff of the office. An organized effort will be taken for case management / disposal. Weekly roaster and daily cause list issued by this court will be displayed on the website with complete information. Besides this, all the prepared judgments will also be posted timely for your study and for take further necessary steps.
I would also like to appreciate here that our Honourable Chairman and Members are very dedicated and their untiring efforts make the expeditious disposal of chronic pending cases.
I hope the information and the services which have been provided through this website shall meet respective purposes learned members of the Bar, Gilgit-Baltistan Civil Servants, departments and individual because right to information has become a fundamental right of the citizens. I hope the legal fraternity, the litigants and the general public will get benefit from it. I will appeal to the legal fraternity to use it regularly and send their valuable suggestion for its improvement.
